Franco Ferraina - Student at Drexel University
Franco Ferraina is currently a freshman at Drexel University in Philadelphia, recently named by U.S. News & World Report as the #6 Up-and-Coming School in the nation. At Drexel University, where he has been enrolled since fall of 2011, he focuses his studies on business administration.
He also holds a place on the school's wrestling team, competing in the 125-pound weight category. He participates in a number of traditions as a student wrestler; he and the rest of the team build their endurance by running up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, made famous in the Rocky movies. Unlike Sylvester Stallone's character, however, Ferraina does it carrying someone on his back.
Franco Ferraina began wrestling at Nazareth Area High School, where he amassed several notable accomplishments. As a senior, he enjoyed a record of 29 wins and just three losses, with a total of nine pins. He also recorded seven major decisions in matches where he bested his opponent by eight or more points.
In the 2011 Class AAA quarterfinals, he beat a Freedom High School competitor in ten seconds and won against several others on his way to the championship.
Aside from wrestling, he joined the cross-country team in the 2010-2011 season, helping the squad win its first-ever District 11 championship.
When not studying or competing in wrestling matches, Franco Ferraina enjoys writing music, working out, and visiting home to spend time with his family.
